Proposal: 24 solar terms

My project is about the twenty-four solar terms, which is one of the traditional Chinese cultures. Each of the four seasons of the year corresponds to six solar terms, a product of the agrarian era. I was inspired by the theme 'movement' at the beginning, which I associated with the changing of the seasons, and combined with Chinese culture, I intended to make a work about the solar terms, hoping to make people understand and love them more through visual expression.

I firstly learnt about its origins and dates and made a research section. Secondly, I divided them into four seasons and read books and videos to learn about the food or entertainment represented by the different seasons. I found that food was a representative part of this. So, I used this element and for the character I chose a kitten to signify his companionship throughout the seasons of the year.

My finished product could have been in the form of a calendar or illustrated book, and after several different plans, I finally chose a calendar so that it was not only ornamental but also practical. Divided into four small shaped calendars, each with a presentation of six seasonal cards.
